For all of you looking for a new pop rock fix, I present to you McAlister Drive. But be warned, these guys aren’t like most pop rock you’ve heard of. No, they found a way to make their sound fun and unique, taking the best of two different worlds and making some sweet tunes. I’m talking about pop rock and country.
“But wait, pop rock and country mixed is just southern rock, right?” you might ask. Well not necessarily. McAlister Drive makes poppier tunes than your standard southern rock bands. They have songs that are catchy and fun to listen to with that rock and roll edge, which makes them pop rock, yet there is an unmistakable twang in their sounds. Those southern roots are just too hard to overlook, but they don’t dominate their sound. It’s a new type of pop rock; not quite country and not quite southern rock, something else, something refreshing and new for you to rock out to.
McAlister Drive is set to release their debut album, “Goddess”, in September this year. Their debut EP, “Missing Figures”, came out in 2010. Check them out, and get your rock on with “Devil’s Ghost” off of “Goddess”.
