New Instrumental Music: Rebecca Brandt

I really admire instrumentalists. Let me explain what I mean, because, technically, every musician who can play an instrument is an instrumentalist. What I mean by instrumentalist is a musician who relies solely on instrumentation; no lyrics, no vocals, just pure instruments. It’s a difficult type of music to make, because people often get bored if the music is too repetitive. Vocals are an easy way circumvent this problem as the instruments can repeat while the lyrics make the music seem less repetitive. Instrumentalists choose another route; one such brave soul is Rebecca Brandt.
Rebecca Brandt took it upon herself to compose, arrange, and orchestrate a 30+ instrument debut album. That is no small feat, and even more impressive is how it sounds. Rebecca Brandt’s debut album, “Numbers and Shapes”, is damn near perfect. Each track is a canvas on which Brandt lays out a work of art, each more beautiful and impressive than the last. Ranging from classical European to exotic world styles and hitting everything in between, this album really is something special, and something you have to hear.
Rebecca Brandt released her debut album, “Numbers and Shapes”, in May of this year. Explore what this brave new composer has to offer with a track from that album, “Run”, and try not to be amazed, I dare you.
