New Indie Rock Music: Last Full Measure

It might be a bit early, but how about some fall music? Hell, it’s fall somewhere in the world, and at the very least it might help take your mind off the heat. Just close your eyes and imagine brown leaves and hoodies. And while you’re at it, turn on Last Full Measure.
Hearing his music transports me back to the foresty DC suburbs during autumn time. I can see the piles and of leaves and smell the crisp air. His mellow, yet crunchy sound mimics the leaves under your feet and the wind in your hair as you walk around the block on a cool October afternoon. The combination of acoustic and electric instrumentation is like the transition from summer, rough and seamless at the same time. Listening to Last Full Measure is like having a time machine with one setting.
Last Full Measure has two albums out, “States” (2010) and most recently “Places, Everyone” (2012). Now close your eyes, imagine the fall, and jump in a pile of leaves with Last Full Measure and their single “The Next One”.

“Places, Everyone” is a fantastic album, full of both pleasant listening and subtle complexity. “Reset,” especially, is a beautiful piece of vocal harmony and very gentle (and then intensifying) electric instrumentation. I highly recommend it. Definitely worth visiting the website linked in the article for all the free listening.
