New Indie Rock Music: King Devil

Who doesn’t like to be pleasantly surprised? Today I opened my email to listen to some artist submissions and came across King Devil. When I got them going my first thought was “Oh no, here’s another Bob Dylan folksy acoustic singer/songwriter wanna-be”. I’m not one to let the first few minutes of a song dissuade me from listening to the whole album, so I pressed on, and as the song carried on, it got good. And I mean really good. This new indie rock band isn’t just recycled folk; King Devil is creative and in your face.
Gritty and grimy with just enough indie flair, King Devil is a treat for the indie scene. These guys write songs that punch you in the gut, lift your heart and float it away, lull you to sleep and shake you awake. King Devil have a special sound that you just can’t pin down. You think you have them figured out when they turn around and surprise you with an indie ballad, or a crunchy punk jam, or an ambient rock song. King Devil has bags of quality and versatility and they demand you sit up and listen.
King Devil just released their self-titled debut album this past June. Give this track off that album, “Pepper”, a try. I promise you’ll be pleasantly surprised too.
