I
magine, if you can, that your A/C stopped working, it’s hot and humid out, and your only chance of cooling off is sitting on your porch (or stoop or patio or what-have-you). Later, at night, things cool off a bit but you’re not going back inside. Instead you host a block party and have a great time outside with your friends. Well if this were to happen to you, then the music playing the whole time this is going on damn well better be Ned Durrett and the Kindly Gents.
Ned Durrett and the Kindly Gents put out a brand of new southern rock music that mixes pop and indie rock in with their southern roots to create music that brings up the heat and cools you down all at the same time. Their soulful and charming sound is that perfect summer night music that you and your friends can relax to.
Ned Durrett and the Kindly Gents have two EPs out now, “The Carolina EP” (2010) and “Up Up My Friend” (2011). Now call the boys over, chill the beer, and pop in Ned Durrett and the Kindly Gents and their track off of “The Carolina EP”, “All is Bright”.
