New Indie Music: The Ugly Club

Nobody gets excited for new albums these days. With just about everything coming instantly, debuts seem to have been reserved for TV shows and movies. Well screw that because I’m excited for a new album today. The Ugly Club are about to release their debut LP, “You Belong to the Minutes”, and damn it, you should be excited too.
The Ugly Club are an interesting band to say the least. They have shades of Barenaked Ladies, Gorillaz, The Strokes, and even some Prince. Some songs make it sound like they had a time machine, and were not at all concerned about messing with the space-time continuum. With samples and keys that sound like they were lifted straight from the 80s, singing that seems almost timeless, and fluctuating styles ranging from electro-pop, to ballad rock, to pop rock, The Ugly Club have a song for just about every preference.
“You Belong to the Minutes” is set to drop on July 13th, but you can pre-order it for one dollar ($1!). I highly recommend you pick it up, and if you live near or in Hoboken, NJ and have $10 to spare, stop by Maxwell’s on July 13th for The Ugly Club’s release party. Now, to get your ass to New Jersey, here’s a single from “You Belong to the Minutes” called “Loosen Up”. Give it a listen and pick up “You Belong to the Minutes”!
