New Music: Mind Spiders

Mind Spiders kick-out little garage-punk pop hits from somewhere called Denton, Texas. Sonically, the band is nicely nestled between the jittering anxiety bursts of the late Jay Reatard and the reverb soaked freak-outs The Ponys have been releasing in recent years. Their new album Meltdown was just released this week and features the tracks “You Are Dead” and “Wait For Us”. “You Are Dead” is a speedy little surf tune with a Phil Spector melody. The latter track is much bigger featuring a fifties sci-fi synth line and great distinction and utilization of their TWO drummers.

You can hear both tracks below and grab the album from Dirtnap Records (via Green Noise Records). They will be playing a SXSW showcase in March and possibly heading out on a small tour after that.

“You Are Dead”

“Wait For Us”

Danny is a drummer (kinda) and guitarist (not really) and music blogger who's spent some time around small record labels and stores. He tends to listen to... odd... music.
